Jesus Waves To Billboard On Christmas Day

Yesterday I took 126 photos in one area of Milan. Walking from Piazza Corvetto, all around and about, then down Corso Lodi to via Ripamonti--got some great shots of a poorer area of Affluent Milano. There were some amazing faces but I didn't dare ask to take photos, maybe I'll get better a surreptitious clicking...(sounds like an undercover dolphin). The Corvetto quarter is famous for this statue of Jesus and other, less savory things. The neighborhood still encompasses some of 'old Milan' in terms of culture, which is way more interesting than Armani suits and simpering models.

Isn't that the same gesture I give when I'm appalled? (Not angry... just appalled, and walking away.) I really like the story telling, and irony of the billboard content.

Thanks everyone! The gesture is really funny---and it happend because the Jesus fell off his pedestal a few weeks ago and lost most of his fingers. There was an older man trying to snap pictures with his cell phone who told us all about it. I have another photo from the front where you can really see the lack of fingers. This one I titled, "Someone give Jesus a hand" (kaboom!).

Little stories everywhere! Metaphors and fables galore. Jesus fell off his pedestal just before Christmas. Yeah, well, "Praise the Lord and pass the Ballantines...."

Oooh, I missed this one yesterday. It sums this holiday up so well! He either wants a drink, or perhaps a cell phone, or maybe even a date with that girl in the santa hat. He's been standing there so long, thinking about the "true meaning of christmas"... maybe he's just decided to go with the flow, hence the attempted suicide and new embrace of consumerism.
